Five different districts—Au, Schied, Unterberg, Grossarl, and Eben-Bach—make up the enthralling city of Grossarl, each with its own special beauty and charms.
A quiet area close to the Dorfgastein ski resort, Au is located in the northern portion of Grossarl. Along with the Grossarl Cable Car, which makes accessing the ski slopes and hiking paths in the Grossarltal-Dorfgastein ski region easier, it has hotels, restaurants, and stores.
Famous for its many mountain cabins, Schied, the northernmost area, offers a stunning scene of meadows, woods, and farms. While the Schied Church is an outstanding example of Baroque architecture, the Schied Museum explores the history and culture of Grossarl Valley.
With so many hotels, restaurants, and stores, Unterberg, the core neighborhood, radiates liveliness. It is the site of several year-round events and activities. A children’s playground, tennis court, sauna, swimming pool and mini golf course are among the facilities of the Grossarl Leisure Center in Unterberg.
Southernmost district Grossarl itself is rich in history, including buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries. A architectural wonder fusing Gothic and Rococo styles, the Grossarl Parish Church is a feature of the community. Through its displays of regional artists and craftspeople, the Grossarl Museum offers a window into the rich cultural legacy of the area.

The district of Au is the northernmost in Grossarl and the one nearest to Dorfgastein ski resort.
