Nightlife In Graz

Nightlife In Graz

The “Bermuda Triangle”—which consists of Franziskanerplatz, Oberstadt, and Mariahilferplatz—is where much of Graz’s nightlife takes place. Up until 11 p.m., this vibrant environment lasts. An additional well-liked area for nightlife is the university district. Nightlife moves to the “Univiertel” and the bigger discotheques on Graz’s outskirts as the evening goes on.

Herrengasse is to the left of the Bermuda Triangle when viewed from the main plaza.Taking the Sporgasse straight from the main plaza or meandering down one of the little lanes from the Herrengasse will get you to the heart of the nightlife in the old town.Summertime brings tourists to the quaint squares in the middle of the old city. Guest gardens, pavement cafés set up by taverns and restaurants, enliven these spaces. These places serve a range of regional and foreign food.A little more sedate are the areas of Franziskanerplatz (which runs from the main square towards the Mur) and Mariahilferplatz (which lies on the right side of the Mur, next to the Kunsthaus). At the end of Sporgasse, heading toward Karmeliterplatz, is the upper town.By guest garden ordinance, the guest gardens are already closed between 11:00 and 11:30 p.m. A curfew that begins at 12:00 a.m. also means that, except from a few exceptions, the interior is closed around 2:00 a.m.Graz offers night owls two possibilities. They may either go to one of the discos on the outskirts of the city or the university quarter, where most pubs stay up into the early hours.

There is a thriving nightlife scene with a range of pubs and clubs in the university neighborhood next to the Karl-Franzens-University, more precisely between Elisabethstraße and Heinrichstraße. Students and those looking for an exciting party scene frequent these places. Here, there are plenty different bars to choose from, from cosy hangout places to energetic party places.

Large discotheques are situated in the southern part of Graz, near Bollwerk and Fledermaus, and in the city center, at Mausefalle. They draw young folks from Graz and the environs.

Graz boasts a number of well-known locations with pubs and dance floors. These major and alternative venues often feature artists and DJs from throughout the country. Among the well-known locations in Graz are the Dom im Berg on the Schlossberg, the ppc next to Lendplatz, the Postgarage, tucked away in Dreihackengasse west of Griesplatz, the General Music Directorate on Grieskai, and the Veilchen in the Forum at Stadtpark.

Being a university city, Graz has a thriving nightlife. There are mostly two sections with bars: the old town and the western section of the old town, close to Karl-Franzens-University. While the bars close to the university serve mostly students, the old town draws a varied population. Old town also has a few Irish bars. O’Carolan’s is the most well-known Irish-themed restaurant in the neighborhood and is conveniently situated close to Hauptplatz, the major plaza. Furthermore noteworthy choices are those of Molly Malone and Flann O’Brien. Offering a fusion of Irish and British elements, The Office is a unique and laid-back new addition to the Graz pub scene. Among the entertainment choices available at The Office are jam sessions and live music concerts. Apart from that, visitors may take part in Sunday darts competitions with real steel darts from England and occasionally Karaoke evenings.
