How To Get To Eisenstadt
Get In - By Plane
About 45 kilometers northeast of Eisenstadt is the Airport Wien-Schwechat (IATA: VIE), the closest international airport. Traveling by car, travel the A3-S1-A4, and using public transit, take a regional bus to Vienna (Südtiroler Platz / Hauptbahnhof), then an ICE or Railjet straight to the airport. Numerous European and international destinations are served by flights from the airport.
Eisenstadt is reachable by train, shuttle bus, or cab from the airport. The trip takes forty minutes and the taxi cost roughly eighty euros. Burgenland Bus runs the shuttle bus service; each passenger pays 15 euros. The bus travels to Eisenstadt in around an hour and leaves every hour between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Austrian national railway company ÖBB operates the train service. The airport may be reached via S-Bahn (suburban rail) to Wien Hauptbahnhof (main station of Vienna), where you can transfer to a regional train to Eisenstadt. The trip by rail costs approximately ten euros and takes an hour and a half.

Eisenstadt is conveniently reachable by car from several directions. Several of the primary entrances are as follows:
- To Guntramsdorf, take the A 2 (southern highway) out of Vienna and then the A 3 (southeastern highway). Proceed on the B51 after Müllendorf. Driving the roughly 60 kilometer journey takes 45 minutes.
- Take the S 4 to Hungary/Eisenstadt, then the A 2 to Wiener Neustadt, all from Graz. Few minutes before Mattersburg, switch to the S 31 heading toward Vienna/Eisenstadt. The easiest way to reach the centre is via Eisenstadt Mitte exit. Driving the roughly 200 kilometer route takes around two hours.
- From Budapest, take the M1 to the border, then the A4 to the Neusiedl exit, and last the B50. About 240 kilometers separate the two and a half hour drive.
- From Bratislava, travel the A6 to Bruckneudorf, then the A4 to Budapest, getting off at Neusiedl and carrying on the B50. Driving the roughly 80 km route takes one hour.
- Arriving from Lake Balaton or Sopron, travel Hungarian trunk road 84 to the old border crossing at Klingenbach. Either state highways or the A3-S31 connect Siegendorf to Drassburg. Driving the roughly 100 kilometer route takes an hour and a half.

Get In - By Train
Eisenstadt is exclusively reachable by regional rail. From Vienna (Meidling) take a ROeEE regional train to Deutschkreutz or Sopron, changing at Wulkaprodersdorf. Generally speaking, there are one or two trains every hour, and the trip takes roughly an hour, depending on the direction and time of day. The rail ticket costs around ten euros. Eisenstadt’s train station is situated next to the Esterhazy Palace at Schlosspark.
It is quicker and less complicated to take one of the several regional buses from Vienna (Südtiroler Platz) every half an hour throughout the day. An hour passes during the roughly 8 euros bus ride. Situated close to the city center on Ruster Straße is Eisenstadt’s bus station.
