In 2010 the two ski slopes of Damüls and Mellau merged to form the biggest ski area in the Bregenz Forest. It is among Vorarlberg’s biggest ski areas as well. They call this ski area Damüls-Mellau. A 2.5 kilometer long natural toboggan run exists. Two days a week, this toboggan slope is lit. The extensive snowfall in the resort area is well known. 2006 saw Damüls crowned the “Snowiest village in the world.” Ninety metres of new snow fall on average each season. Numerous hiking routes departing from Damüls lead to summits with breath-taking views of the neighboring mountain tops via alpine meadows. The summer heat waves don’t last long, though.
