Geography Of Bregenz
East of Lake Constance, north of the Bregenzer Ach and the city of Dornbirn, Bregenz is situated in the westernmost region of Austria. The scenic Pfänder ridge mountain slope and Gebhardsberg to the west encircle the capital city of Vorarlberg. It is on the eastern border of Lake Constance, between the oil rain and the upper town terraces. The settlement area has lately expanded in a south-west direction, more precisely toward the Pfänder and Gebhardsberg hills. The Rieden-Vorkloster villages have emerged as a result of this growth.Their founding year was 1919.Further settlement growth along the Bregenzer Ach led to the creation of the Achsiedlung.1938 saw the merger of Fluh municipality.
Over a thousand metres above sea level is the highest point in the municipal territory.Part of the Fluh district, the site in issue is situated south of the Pfänder mountain. At 396 meters above sea level on average, the lake surface of Lake Constance is the lowest point of elevation. The lowest point in the Vorarlberg area is at Lake Constance.Bregenz’s metropolitan core is 398 meters above sea level and situated in the Vorarlberg area.

Within their individual cadastral communities are the four districts: Vorkloster, Stadt, Rieden (which is also the site of the Riedenburg Monastery), and Fluh.Kennelbach was a part of Rieden up to 1912.It is also noteworthy because Fluh, a special district established in 1938/1945, is situated on the Pfänder and Gebhardsberg mountains. Separate cadastral communities are formed by this district. The Bregenz municipality has named certain vineyard-named regions Schendlingen, Am Stein, Funkenbühel, Hinterfeld, Ölrain, Thalbach, and Brittenhütten. The original map from 1857 had previously noted the names named.
