Annaberg-Lungötz is a municipality in the Salzburg, Austrian state, Hallein district. Annaberg im Lammertal and Lungötz are its two principal communities; there are also a number of minor hamlets and localities inside.

Annaberg im Lammertal

Nestled in the Lammer River valley at the base of the Gosaukamm mountain range, Annaberg im Lammertal is home to around 818 people. Part of the Dachstein West ski area, it is a well-liked tourist attraction, particularly for winter sports.Being the birthplace of renowned Austrian poet and clergyman Johann Nepomuk David, the hamlet boasts a rich history and culture. Attractions in Annaberg im Lammertal consist of:

  • A beautiful high altar and a Paul Troger picture of the patron saint grace the Baroque-style parish church of St. Anna, which was constructed in 1734.
  • Displaying exhibits on the history, folklore, crafts, and agriculture of the area, the museum of local history and culture is situated in the former school building.
  • Johann Nepomuk David was born and poet Georg Trakl spent some time at the renowned 1657 Salzburger Dolomitenhof Inn.
  • The Zwieselalm plateau, reached by the Riedelkar chairlift, offers visitors expansive vistas of the neighboring mountains and valleys.

  • Steuer: A hamlet close to the village center, home of the post office and town hall.
  • Hirschau: A hamlet located near the cemetery and cemetery chapel on the western end of the village.
  • Astau: The museum and Salzburger Dolomitenhof hotel are situated in this hamlet on the eastern edge of the town.
  • Langfeld: The ski school and the Riedlkar chairlift are situated in this hamlet on the southern side of the village.
  • Theodor-Körner-Hütte mountain hut and the Donnerkogel cable car are situated in the hamlet of Törl on the northern edge of the village.

Lungötz

Approximately 4 km west of Annaberg im Lammertal, in the Lammer River valley, is the community of Lungötz, home to roughly 1,385 people. Encircled by meadows and woods, this sleepy town provides a range of leisure activities for tourists. Among the sights in Lungötz are:

  • Constructed in 1782 in the Rococo style, the St. Catherine parish church features a stunning interior and a Martin Johann Schmidt picture of the patron saint.
  • Visitors may see a variety of flora and creatures, including orchids, dragonflies, frogs, and birds, in the Lammerau nature reserve, a protected region of wetlands and woods.
  • Family-friendly Langötz water park features a playground, a slide, a swimming pool, and a snack bar.
  • Running along the Lammer River, the 15 km long Lungötz cross-country ski trail links Lungötz to Annaberg im Lammertal and St. Martin am Tennengebirge.
  • Offering thrill and fun for all ages is the 3-kilometer-long Lungötz toboggan run, which begins near the Lungötz water park and ends at the village center.

Lungötz

  • Neubach: The parish church and the Lungötz water park are situated in this hamlet on the western side of the settlement.
  • Lammertal: The Lungötz toboggan slide and cross-country ski route are situated in this hamlet on the eastern edge of the settlement.
  • Mandlhof: The Mandlhof farm and the Lammerau natural reserve are situated in this hamlet on the northern side of the village.
  • Schwaighof: The farm and chapel at Schwaighof are situated in this hamlet on the southern edge of the village.
  • Eck: A hamlet with the Eck farm and Eck church situated on the southeast side of the village.
