Sport Hotel is a four-star family hotel in the centre of Soldeu, directly opposite the Grandvalira gondola and at about 1,850 metres elevation. It is one of three distinct properties in the Sport Hotels Resort & Spa complex, alongside Sport Hotel Village and Sport Hotel Hermitage & Spa. The hotel’s traditional mountain interior uses wood and stone, while the central location places guests close to shops, bars and equipment services. The gondola is across the road, making the property particularly convenient for winter visitors, although lift operations and access remain dependent on Grandvalira schedules, snow and weather.
The hotel has about 165 rooms according to current Tripadvisor and resort-directory listings. Rooms are described as spacious and include heating, bath and shower, hairdryer, telephone, satellite television and safe. Room type and exact capacity vary, so families should confirm the occupancy and bed configuration of the booked category. The property offers family rooms, a children’s mini club and common lounge areas. The hotel belongs to the larger resort complex but is not the same accommodation as the higher-category Sport Hotel Village, whose entrance and room inventory are separately identified. Guests should use the correct Sport Hotel name and contact number when arriving or arranging a reservation.
Dining includes a buffet restaurant serving breakfast and dinner, with hot and cold choices and show cooking noted in the hotel’s visitor listing. Recent guest information indicates breakfast begins at 07:30 and dinner at 19:00 during ski season, but these observations are not a formal year-round timetable. Half-board conditions and the current restaurant schedule should be confirmed with the property. The hotel also has a bar-cafeteria and lounge areas for drinks and downtime. The Sport Hotels complex contains other restaurants, but they may be attached to a different property or require a separate reservation; check location and eligibility before assuming access is part of the stay.
An outdoor heated pool and children’s facilities are promoted for family holidays, with seasonal operation possible. The resort’s Sport Wellness Mountain Spa is a separate paid facility of about 5,000 square metres, and hydrotherapy access is restricted to guests over 13 according to the official resort pages. The spa is accessible within the wider connected complex, but room rates do not include admission automatically. Its schedules and treatment availability can change by season, so use the Spa’s own current timetable and booking requirements rather than hotel meal hours or an old brochure. The hotel also has a gym, games room and ski storage, while some services may incur additional charges.
Check-in information differs by source. Booking.com lists check-in from 15:00 to 20:00 and checkout from 10:00 to 12:00; its guest-facing page also says that an earlier room may be provided if available. The official Sport Hotels contacts page gives the Sport Hotel reception telephone as +376 870 600, and Tripadvisor describes a 24-hour front desk. A Grandvalira hotel data sheet also labels reception as 24-hour, but it gives older check-in data. Because the current Booking window ends earlier than the broad reception claim, late arrivals should contact the hotel in advance and obtain confirmation. Reception availability is not the same as a guaranteed room-ready time.
In winter, the direct gondola access is the hotel’s most obvious advantage. Skiers can move between accommodation and lifts quickly, and the wider complex includes ski services and storage. Grandvalira determines lift opening, ticketing and slope conditions. Summer visitors can use Soldeu as a base for hiking, cycling and the area’s golf and mountain activities. The hotel advertises an outdoor heated pool for the summer season and a mini club with indoor and outdoor activities. These facilities are seasonal and should be checked for the specific dates; the mountain environment also means weather can affect planned excursions even when conditions in the village seem mild.
For practical planning, the official Sport Hotels site lists a separate telephone for each property: Sport Hotel reception at +376 870 600, Sport Hotel Village at +376 870 500 and Sport Hotel Hermitage & Spa at +376 870 670. This distinction is useful because all three sit close together and share resort branding. The 24-hour central reservations department is separate from each hotel reception and is published with its own daytime telephone hours. The current Sport Hotel page gives the general address as Carretera General s/n, Soldeu, with email infosporthotels@sporthotels.ad. Ask which entrance, reception and spa access apply to the reservation.
Sport Hotel suits families, couples and groups seeking an alpine-style stay immediately by the Soldeu gondola, with dining, a pool and family facilities. It is less appropriate for travellers who want a quiet isolated property or expect the spa to be included with the room. Its position at the heart of the resort makes access easy but also puts it amid the main village’s movement and service activity. Before arrival, verify the check-in window, whether late reception arrangements are needed, current pool and mini-club opening, meal plan and any paid wellness access. The property’s proximity to the lift is a clear practical benefit, while its multiple neighbouring hotels make accurate property identification important.
