The River camper area is a practical motorhome stop beside River Centre Comercial on the CG-1 in Sant Julià de Lòria. It is useful for drivers who need a place to pause, refill or empty tanks, visit the supermarket and continue their journey. The shopping centre’s own website continues to list an Àrea d’Autocaravanes at River Sant Julià, while recent visitor information describes a designated area within or beside the centre’s parking. This is a service-oriented stop rather than a scenic campsite, and the rules currently posted at the entrance should determine what you may do on arrival.
The location is close to the Spanish border and the main north–south road through the parish. That makes it convenient for arrivals from Spain, departures from Andorra and shopping runs, but it sits outside the central historic streets of Sant Julià. River Centre Comercial brings a large supermarket together with specialist shops and services. Its official site lists a bakery-café, perfumery, pharmacy, fuel stations and the camper area. These facilities make the stop more useful than an ordinary roadside lay-by, although each business operates on its own schedule and the centre’s retail hours do not define the parking area’s overnight rules.
Motorhome visitors have repeatedly reported free water and facilities for emptying grey and black water. Recent travel accounts also mention Wi-Fi access from parts of the parking area and the possibility of using the centre’s services during shopping hours. These are visitor reports rather than a published service specification, so check the facilities in person before relying on them. Do not connect hoses or discharge waste anywhere other than the marked service point, and leave the area ready for the next vehicle. There is no reliable current operator statement confirming electrical hookups, showers, toilets dedicated to the camper area, pitch reservations or a campsite-style reception; plan on the basis that these are not guaranteed.
The most important practical change concerns sleeping in the vehicle. Older reviews describe the River area as a free overnight stop, but notices and traveler reports from 2026 say overnight stays may be restricted, that access has been limited to around 21:00, and that River disclaims responsibility for fines. Other recent travelers describe different rules, including distinctions based on vehicle registration. These accounts do not establish one clear, universally applicable permission. Treat the area as a daytime service and shopping stop unless current signs and direct confirmation from River explicitly authorize an overnight stay for your vehicle. Do not infer permission from a map profile marked “open 24 hours,” from older reviews, or from seeing other motorhomes parked there.
Before entering, read every sign at the entrance and in the camper section, including restrictions on overnight parking, registration plates, vehicle size, maximum duration and closing times. If any condition is unclear, contact River staff before settling in. The centre’s official contact page lists +376 765 000 and clients@river.ad. Rules can change quickly, and a visitor’s experience on a previous trip does not guarantee that the same arrangement applies today. If overnight parking is not expressly allowed, use an authorised campsite or designated motorhome area instead.
For shopping, the centre offers a broad range of food and everyday goods, and several recent users value the ability to combine a water stop with groceries, fuel or a quick café visit. The official website lists River’s retail centre services but does not publish one dependable set of camper-area opening hours. The supermarket, bakery-café, pharmacy and fuel station may each open and close at different times, so check the specific business if you are travelling for a particular service. A quiet period in the parking area does not mean those shops are open, and the centre’s closing time does not itself determine whether a vehicle may remain.
Public transport is another option for visitors who want to leave the motorhome and travel toward the capital. Recent camper reviews mention a nearby L1 bus connection, though the precise stop, frequency and current fare should be checked with the local operator before setting out. The CG-1 is busy, so use marked pedestrian routes, take care crossing vehicle lanes and keep children close in the parking area. The river setting is incidental to the commercial site; this is not a maintained riverside promenade or a place for swimming or outdoor recreation.
River is not the same facility as the parish’s Feixes del Rabató camper parking, which the local tourism authority describes on the road toward Naturland and which has its own fees and services. That municipal site must not be used as a proxy for River’s current terms. Likewise, a general parking bay at the shopping centre is not automatically a marked motorhome service space. Follow local signs, park only where the vehicle fits without obstructing circulation, and keep access clear for deliveries and other customers.
The best way to use the River area is to treat it as a convenient, potentially free service point whose current parking conditions must be verified on site. Bring any hose or fittings you need, secure your vehicle while using the service station, and avoid leaving valuables visible during shopping. Check the discharge point before use and dispose of waste responsibly. If you are planning an overnight stop, confirm permission directly with River and obey the newest entrance notice; otherwise continue to an authorised overnight facility. This approach preserves the area’s usefulness while avoiding assumptions based on outdated descriptions.
