Hotel Coma is a family-run mountain hotel on Carrer del Camp de la Tanada in Ordino, a village in north-western Andorra. Its present identity brings together accommodation, the Cal Ventura restaurant and a set of outdoor facilities in a garden setting below the slopes of Casamanya. The hotel is close to Ordino’s centre and works as a base for walking, cycling and winter trips, but it is not a ski-in/ski-out property: the Ordino-Arcalís slopes are several kilometres up the valley, and transport or driving is needed to reach them.
The hotel describes its roots as a family inn more than 90 years ago. That history is reflected in a property that combines rooms with shared spaces and recreation rather than operating solely as a place to sleep. Current room categories include double, triple, family and suite options. The operator says all rooms face outside, but balcony availability depends on floor: rooms on the first and second floors have balconies, while those on the third do not. This is a useful detail for guests choosing a room, particularly if a balcony or open outlook is important to the stay. Ask for the applicable room plan rather than assuming every category has the same outlook or outdoor space.
Cal Ventura is the hotel’s restaurant and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its published offer centres on seasonal cooking and local products, with menus that change through the year. The dining room is part of the property, so hotel guests can plan meals without leaving the building; visitors who are not staying should check the restaurant directly for reservations and current menus. Meal-service hours are separate from hotel reception and check-in times. The address and restaurant name also help avoid confusion with the separate La Coma mountain restaurant at Ordino-Arcalís, which sits beside the ski-area gondola and is not part of this hotel.
Outdoor facilities give the property a broader role for families and active travellers. The hotel lists a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, gardens, mini-golf and multipurpose courts used for tennis and other sports. Guests receive access to mini-golf and the courts under the operator’s stated conditions; non-members are charged for tennis-court use. Pool access is free for overnight guests, while non-guests may use it only when consuming food or drink at the restaurant. The pool is outdoors, so its practical value depends on season and weather rather than being a year-round indoor amenity.
There is also a lounge with a fireplace, a terrace overlooking the gardens and surrounding mountains, bicycle storage and an electric-vehicle charging point. Outdoor parking is listed, while the indoor garage is paid and should be reserved or checked in advance because capacity is limited. The hotel says its guests can access Centre Esportiu d’Ordino on special terms; that facility, about two minutes away, is a separate sports centre with an indoor pool, gym and spa. The special access does not mean those facilities are inside Hotel Coma or included automatically in every booking, so confirm current prices and admission terms with reception.
The village location makes it possible to combine a stay with Ordino’s cultural centre, museums and traditional streets. The National Auditorium and Casa d’Areny-Plandolit are close by, while routes into the surrounding mountains begin in and around the parish. Ordino-Arcalís is reached by road farther north; the hotel is therefore a useful place to return to after a day on the slopes, not accommodation at the lift base. Guests without a car can use the regular bus service between Ordino and Andorra la Vella, and reception can provide current timetables. Ski-bus arrangements are associated with the resort and pass, not a permanent hotel shuttle.
Check-in begins at 15:00 and checkout is by 12:00. Reception is open 24 hours according to the hotel’s current FAQ, which says there is no set latest check-in time. This does not remove the need to advise the hotel if arrival plans change, particularly if the booking has a special request. The property accepts dogs under its separate pet policy; fees or restrictions should be checked before arrival. The hotel also offers a baby cot, subject to current availability, and guests can contact the property about the EV charger and garage.
Hotel Coma suits visitors who want a village base with on-site dining and outdoor recreation, especially families combining mountain days with time in Ordino. It is less suited to anyone who expects a large resort directly outside the door or indoor pool access at the hotel itself. The distinction between its own seasonal outdoor pool and the nearby municipal sports centre matters when comparing amenities. Check the season and status of the pool, courts and restaurant before travel, and treat the operating details as changeable. For a stay centred on Ordino rather than the ski lift, the hotel’s location, varied room types, garden facilities and long-standing family operation make it a practical base with several services gathered in one property.
