Llac de Cubil Restaurant is a small mountain dining stop in Grandvalira’s Grau Roig sector, intended for a pause during a day on the snow. Grandvalira describes it as a cabin among the ski pistes, with café service, sandwiches, German-style sausages, burgers and hot or cold drinks. Its appeal is as much about the setting and convenience as the menu: skiers can step out of the mountain activity for a quick meal, use the terrace when conditions allow, and return to the slopes without travelling down to a village restaurant.

The name can cause confusion because Llac del Cubil is also the name of a real high-altitude lake nearby. The restaurant listing refers to a piste-side food venue; the natural lake is a separate destination reached by mountain routes. Do not follow a lake-hiking map expecting it to lead directly to the restaurant, and do not assume that a restaurant pin marks the lakeshore. Grandvalira’s own restaurant page places the venue in the Grau Roig sector and says access is on skis. Its resort map labels Llac del Cubil as a mountain feature and trail destination, reinforcing that visitors should check which place and route they mean before setting off.

For winter 2025–26, Grandvalira published restaurant hours of 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the winter season. The page describes the access as skiing, lists toilets and a terrace, and indicates an express menu is available. This is not an all-year restaurant timetable. The published dates are tied to the 2025–26 winter season, which has ended; do not apply that timetable automatically to September 2026 or the following winter, and confirm the operating dates for the season in which you travel. Check Grandvalira’s live restaurant and lift information before planning a visit, especially early or late in the ski season.

Access is an important safety consideration. The restaurant is described as being in the middle of the pistes and reachable on skis, not as a roadside café with ordinary pedestrian access. Skiers should use open, marked pistes and follow the current resort map, closures and ability grading. Do not walk along an active ski run to reach the building, and do not infer that the area is safe for pedestrians simply because the restaurant name includes “lake.” If you are looking for the natural lake, plan that as a separate outing and use an appropriate summer hiking or winter snowshoe/ski-touring route with current conditions and equipment.

One official Andorra Turisme route named Snowshoes: Llac del Cubil is a distinct winter activity. Its published information gives a 3.92-kilometre route with 372 metres of ascent and descent, an easy rating and an estimated duration ranging from zero to three hours. It starts at Peretol Soldeu–Bordes d’Envalira and crosses ski pistes twice. Those details describe the snowshoe route, not the restaurant’s access trail, and the route’s current opening and safety conditions still need checking. Grandvalira also lists a Llac de Cubil ski-touring itinerary among intermediate routes and publishes route closure times separately from restaurant hours. These are not interchangeable schedules.

At the restaurant, the food offer is suited to a short, warming stop. A hot drink and sandwich can work between runs, while sausages or a burger provide a more substantial break. The official description mentions both hot and cold drinks and an express menu, but it does not promise that every item is available throughout the day. Menu stock and service speed may vary with demand, weather and the operating season. Visitors with dietary requirements or allergies should ask staff about ingredients and preparation; a general menu description is not a guarantee of allergen suitability.

The terrace is part of the mountain experience on a calm, sunny day, but high-altitude weather can change quickly. Wind, snowfall, freezing temperatures or low visibility may make an indoor pause preferable or temporarily limit outdoor seating. Keep gloves and an extra layer accessible rather than leaving them in a locker or vehicle far below. The restaurant listing names toilets, though services may be seasonal and should not be assumed available outside the stated winter operation. The published overview does not establish a reservation policy, parking arrangement at the door or pedestrian route from a car park.

For a broader day in Grau Roig, the restaurant can fit into a ski itinerary or serve as a landmark on a map, but it should not dictate the route. Confirm that the relevant lifts and pistes are running, leave enough time to reach your intended return lift, and check the final lift schedule independently. The restaurant’s 4:30 p.m. published close in winter 2025–26 does not mean that every lift or route remains open until then. If using ski touring or snowshoes, check the activity-specific notices and turnaround times, and do not enter closed piste areas or avalanche terrain without suitable training and equipment.

The best way to plan is to decide first whether the goal is a meal on the ski slopes or a visit to the natural lake. For the restaurant, use Grandvalira’s current Grau Roig dining information and approach only by the permitted ski access for that season. For the lake, use a dedicated route description and assess weather, snow and terrain. The names are closely related, but the two experiences differ in location, access and opening information. Keeping them separate avoids a wrong turn and helps visitors choose the right clothing, transport and schedule.
