UAILO Department Store (formerly CCA) in Andorra la Vella, Andorra

Visit UAILO, the former CCA department store on Avinguda Meritxell, for fashion, groceries, technology, food, services and central shopping.

UAILO Department Store is the current identity of the long-running shopping centre at Avinguda Meritxell 92 in central Andorra la Vella, the same retail institution previously known as CCA – Centre Comercial Andorrà and, before that, Escale. For travellers, that continuity matters: this is not a vanished CCA listing or a different mall elsewhere in the capital, but a renamed and expanded department store on the city’s principal shopping axis. It is most useful for visitors who want several practical needs in one stop—fashion, sports goods, toys, pharmacy services, food shopping, technology and a meal or coffee—rather than for anyone looking for a conventional sightseeing attraction. The decisive current change is the branding: UAILO launched on 18 December 2025, so visitors searching only for “CCA” should look for UAILO signage.

The operator traces the store’s history to 1977, when Escale opened with fresh food among its self-service offer and soon introduced home delivery. The centre expanded in 1992 with additional retail space, a cafeteria and restaurant, bakery and pastry functions, and meat and delicatessen preparation. Escale Online followed in 2001. In 2013 the business became CCA – Centre Comercial Andorrà and formed an alliance with the French Système U group to strengthen its grocery range. The December 2025 transition to UAILO is therefore best understood as another stage in the same retail operation rather than a break in identity. That makes the old Travel S Helper listing worth preserving, but its public-facing name needs to reflect what a visitor will actually see in 2026.

UAILO now presents itself as a multi-floor department store rather than only a supermarket. Its current directory lists women’s and men’s fashion, children’s clothing, accessories, footwear, watches and jewellery, sports retailers, toys, stationery, homeware, beauty services, a pharmacy, a photographic laboratory, Super U food retail, duty-free shopping, technology and press. The mix is useful for travellers because it combines ordinary trip needs with larger discretionary purchases. You can replace forgotten clothing, buy children’s items or sports gear, pick up groceries and toiletries, browse electronics, or compare fashion brands without moving between distant districts. Brand occupancy can change, so the centre’s live directory is more reliable than an old tenant list copied into a guide.

The grocery component remains an important part of the visit. UAILO’s own history links the centre with Système U, while the current directory still includes Super U. That makes the building practical for self-catering travellers as well as shoppers interested in clothing or electronics. The store also maintains food-oriented services beyond supermarket aisles. UAILO’s Food & Drinks is described by the operator as a modern restaurant and cafeteria space serving breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks, with a covered area and an accessible setting. It is therefore realistic to plan the centre as a combined shopping-and-meal stop, though individual food outlets can keep different hours from the main building.

The centre stands on Avinguda Meritxell, one of the capital’s main commercial streets, so it works especially well as part of a city-centre day rather than as a destination requiring a special excursion. The address is Avinguda Meritxell 92, AD500 Andorra la Vella. The operator lists several participating car parks and a purchase-linked parking benefit: one free hour for purchases over €20 and two free hours for purchases over €40 at named facilities such as Parc Central, Parc Central 2 and Fener 2, subject to the published conditions. A different rule applies at the Cèntric Saba car park for customers without the Fidelia programme. Because conditions can change and validation rules matter, drivers should check the current UAILO parking page before relying on the benefit.

General centre hours are clearly published for 2026. UAILO states that the usual schedule is Monday to Saturday from 09:30 to 21:00 and Sunday from 09:00 to 20:00, while warning that public-holiday opening can vary. The same page also notes that some shops and services maintain their own schedules. That distinction is important: the building being open does not guarantee that every tenant, food counter or service desk is operating for the entire period. For a simple browse, allow roughly 45–90 minutes; a grocery shop, meal and multi-floor retail visit can easily take longer.

Accessibility is better documented here than at many older shopping entries. UAILO specifically describes its Food & Drinks space as accessible, and the centre is a modern multi-floor commercial operation, but the sources reviewed do not provide a complete audited accessibility statement covering every floor, lift, toilet and tenant. Travellers who require a particular step-free route or adapted facility should therefore contact customer service rather than assume that every individual concession has identical access. The central address also means visitors can reach the centre on foot from much of the commercial core without needing a car.

Prices are not a single attraction fee: this is normal retail, with costs varying by department, brand and promotion. Andorra’s tax environment may be part of the reason many travellers shop in the country, but it is still worth comparing actual item prices instead of assuming every product is automatically cheaper. The strongest reason to stop at UAILO is convenience and range. It consolidates groceries, fashion, sports, toys, technology and food service at a central address and extends a retail operation that has occupied this site for decades. For someone following the old CCA name, the practical takeaway is simple: go to the same Avinguda Meritxell location, look for UAILO Department Store, and use the centre’s current directory and holiday-hour notices for the latest details.
