Inside, the route combines original spaces with a newer exhibition gallery. The published museum description mentions objects made or used in prison, manuscripts, correspondence between prisoners and their families, period documents, an audiovisual room and a small library of prison literature. Much of the collection was donated by former political prisoners and their families.
