The Muradie Mosque, in Vlore, is an Albanian Cultural Monument. During Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent’s reign, the mosque was erected in 1537 by the famed Ottoman Turkish architect Mimar Sinan. The building was finished in 1542 AD.

The mosque sits in a major plaza in downtown Vlora, bordered on all four sides by roadways. It’s on Sadik Zotaj Street, south of Lef Sallata Street, and east of Papa Kristo Negovani Street.

The main building and the minaret make up the construction. The former is 10 to 11 square meters in size, while the minaret is 18 meters long. It also had a portico in the past, which was eventually demolished. The mosque has a dome with a raised polygon foundation, arched windows, and typical triangle shapes on the side walls. The Muradie mosque’s brickwork is made up of layers of two distinct brick hues. The texture, quality, color, and size and sequence of the bricks used to construct the Islamic prayer hall contrast with the bigger white chiseled stones used to construct the minaret.

The cultural monument is said to have been created by Mimar Sinani, a notable Albanian architect who was a major mosque constructor in the Ottoman Empire and the architect of Istanbul’s Great Suleymaniye Mosque.
