Mesi Bridge is a bridge in the town of Mes, approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) northeast of Shkodër in northern Albania. It is a Postrib cultural landmark that has turned the place into a popular tourist destination with people from all over the globe. The bridge’s architecture is interesting to outsiders, with spherical polished stones and stone plates. The surrounding landscape makes the bridge even more beautiful. Because there was no entrance to the bridge, the Albanian Development Fund funded 13 million lek so visitors could walk on it and view it carefully.
It was erected by Kara Mahmud Bushati, the local Ottoman pasha, in the 18th century, approximately 1770, and crosses the Kir River. The structure was split into two sections, with the first including just the central arc and the arc next to it, and the second encompassing the other 11 arches. The goal was to link the city of Shkodër with the cities of Drisht and other northern cities. It is one of the region’s longest Ottoman bridges, measuring 108 meters long, 3.4 meters broad, and 12.5 meters high with 13 arches. It was constructed as part of the route that leads up the Kir Valley to Pristina.
