Kapllan Pasha’s Memorial Tomb, one of Tirana’s monarchs. It was established in the early nineteenth century (around 1820-1830) and is part of the massive Tirana Mosque graveyard complex, which was destroyed during World War II. Six more burials of the same style with varied proportions were incorporated in the compound.
The construction itself is a 4-meter-high octagonal monument with eight classical columns joined by arches. It was considered to have had a roof over it. Today, the Tomb is uncovered, with no roof or dome. The columns are built of stones and sit on stone pedestals with floral-patterned floors. One of the columns includes an inscription concerning Kapllan Pash Toptani, although it is now unreadable. According to the Muslim calendar, the only visible data is the date 1326 ‘h.
In the 19th century, Kapllan Pasha was buried here, but his bones were eventually relocated and reburied in Istanbul.
