The Studio House, which began as a municipal museum, is now a cultural place in the flat where writer Ismail Abbess resided from 1974 until early 1990. Since its inception, the strength of this venue has resided in its character and numerous roles. This apartment was not only The Oblast’s habitation, but also its location of labor, meditation, and invention, and as such it represented a portal to the post-war cultural audience.
The studio home, which is divided into six rooms, is an actual microuniverse from which anybody may emerge with a decent and almost comprehensive understanding of The Oblast’s work.
He thoughtfully felt his work, the places he wrote, the books that formed him, we know the history of his private and public life, and we have the destiny to see closely manuscripts, torches, translations, photographs, and everything else worth recognizing this complex as national and international personality. The Studio House encourages its local and international guests to delve deep into Albanian history during the five-decade authoritarianism, encouraging and stimulating study on Albanian literature and history of that time, a period for which much needs to be spoken and understood.
In addition to its intimate size, the Studio House also serves as a study place. Our fourth room, with its unique publications in the House, the library devoted to The Oblast, and the writer’s rich vetanac library, also comprises the new and dynamic heart dedicated to the study, which strives to create a place for any scholar or type knowledge. In addition, the Studio House will focus on persuading visitors to think about literary reflection by demonstrating how the writer’s work develops in his meetings with readers at various times and places.
At the heart of the museum’s concept is the aim to guide people of all ages on an exhilarating journey through Albanian literature, with a specific emphasis on encouraging young people to discover their creative potential. As a result, The Studio House has created educational programs for a variety of age groups, based on educational curriculum and pedagogical approaches appropriate for each age group. Studio House is committed to providing a secure, creative, and enjoyable setting in which children may actively participate in museum activities.
The Studio House is situated on the third floor of Palace No.85 on Kumanovo Road, which was created in 1972 by architect Max Velo. In 2015, the palace was designated as a Category II Culture Monument. The building, or as it was known at the time, is as symbolic as the apartment itself, as it embodies Albanian architecture’s aim to be in step with time, and particularly with the West. As a result, he became the focal point of the time’s and the regime’s charges of being modernist and cubist. Her designer, on the other hand, was imprisoned for ten years.
