TID Tower

The TID Tower is a high-rise building in Tirana, Albania. From its completion till 2019, it was the tallest skyscraper in Albania, standing at 85 meters. It was exceeded by the new 112-meter-high hotel high-rise at the Air Albania Stadium. The TID Tower rises a few meters above the 83-meter-high ABA Business Center. The structure contains 25 levels. Aside from its height and beautifully sculpted façade, the building is notable for its structure, which tapers downwards and blends from a rectangular to an oval form. The Tirana Plaza hotel, which has a restaurant and a panoramic bar, is housed in a high-rise structure.

The TID Tower is situated in downtown Tirana, between Rruga e Barrikadave, Rruga 28 Nntori, and Rruga Abdi Toptani streets, directly east of the famous Skanderbeg Square (Albanian Sheshi Sknderbej).

One corner of the building’s foundation rises above the ancient Kapllan-Pascha-Türbe, which was preserved from destruction by this project.

The TID Tower was part of a new master plan for the city center that included the development of 10 new high-rise structures as new monuments surrounding Skanderbeg Square. However, with just two high-rise structures now under construction (TID Tower and the “Forever Green Tower”), this will only be partly implemented. The majority of the TID Tower’s useable space should be offered for flats and apartments. On the bottom level, offices, stores, and restaurants were proposed. A panoramic restaurant was also planned at the summit. The building expenditures were projected to be in the range of 50 million euros. The floor size of the building is about 46,000 square meters, with an interior space of 4,240 square meters. Originally, the opening was scheduled for 2012.

On January 14, 2007, construction started. The façade was finished in May of 2011. The external scaffolding had already been removed by February 2012, however there were still no windows. The renovation was finished in May of 2016.
