class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Dong Hoi citadel gates stand towering as a symbol of the devastation caused by war in Vietnam.<\/p><p>The Dong Hoi Citadel Gates, once a sign of ultimate grandeur and power, are now a mere shell of their former selves and the only remaining ruins of the Dong Hoi Citadel. The citadel gates are one of the few remaining structures in Dong Hoi after a bombing destroyed the majority of the city, and are highly recommended for history buffs. The Citadel is a series of complicated fortifications and towers that form a fortress and provide the kings within with complete security. It was constructed in the 1600s by the Nguyen Dynasty and remodeled in the 1800s.
