Prices in Manama, Bahrain

Bahrain is by no means a cheap travel destination, but it does not have to break the bank. Although there are no hostels, double rooms are available in inexpensive hotels. I slept at the Monroe Hotel and Suites for under £30 per night in a wonderful room with great wifi. The cheapest accommodation you may find starts at £15 for a very basic room. I didn’t have time to use the hotel’s pool, fitness center, or on-site restaurant. I highly recommend staying in the Al Hoora area, as there are numerous inexpensive eateries around and it is centrally located to many of the sites you will want to visit. Other regions may be slightly less expensive, but the cost of transportation to your desired location will be higher.

Groceries are inexpensive and can be purchased from tiny supermarkets within shopping malls or from the numerous little stores that line every street. My most costly lunch was 8BD in a nice restaurant, but I also had a burger and fries for 3BD and a takeaway shawarma for 0.3BD, all of which were wonderful and filling.
