Sozpol is an old beach village on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, 35 kilometers south of Burgas. Today, it is one of the country’s main coastal resorts, best known for the Apollonia art and film festival (held in early September), which is named for one of the town’s old names.

Summer months, from May to September, are the busiest of the year, with people from all over the globe flocking to enjoy the weather, sandy beaches, history and culture, fusion cuisine (Balkan, Mediterranean), and vibrant ambiance of the colorful resort.

As of December 2009, the town had a population of 5,410 people and was part of the Burgas Province and the administrative center of the namesake Sozopol Municipality.
