Elhovo is a town in Yambol Province, Bulgaria. It is situated on the left bank of the Tundzha river, between the Strandzha and Sakar mountains. The second biggest city in the area after Jambol, the city is situated 36 kilometers from the Bulgarian-Turkish border post Lesovo \u2013 Hamzabeyli. Elhovo serves as the administrative headquarters for the municipality of Elhovo, which encompasses 21 settlements (municipalities). The city has a population of 10 424 residents as of December 15, 2014.<\/p>

The town\u2019s name is derived from the Bulgarian word for \u201ealder\u201c and the suffix -ovo, which denotes a locality. During Ottoman administration, it was referred to as Kzlaa\u00e7, which also means \u201ealder.\u201c<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Elhovo is situated on the left bank of the Tundzha River in the rich area in the southeastern section of the Thracian Valley (Thrace), between the Strandzha and Sakar mountains. 38 kilometers from Yambol, 100 kilometers from Burgas, and 339 kilometers southeast of Sofia. Covering a portion of the lowland and low mountain Tundzha region \u2013 a section of the river Tundzha\u2019s middle valley \u2013 and a portion of the Dervent Heights.<\/p>

The field of Elhovo is the focal point of this area. Its level area spans on both sides of the north-flowing river Tundzha. The typical elevation is between 100 and 150 meters. The field gradually descends towards the mild slopes of the Manastira and Dervent Heights in the surrounding areas.<\/p>

The flat landscape in the north progressively transitions to low mountain \u2013 this includes a portion of the Dervent heights, which geographically resemble the Strandzha (mountain). Between them is probably a flat saddle, from which the river Popovska originates. Their highlands are home to the state\u2019s border with Turkey. The settlement system inside the Dervent heights is located at an average elevation of 450 meters. The right inflows of the river Tundzha \u2013 the rivers Popovska and Arapliyska \u2013 gather their water on their northern slopes.<\/p>

The area\u2019s terrain has a fairly limited altitude amplitude, and soil erosion is moderate. In the south, the river Tundzha cuts through a minor mountain range, separating the Dervent and Sakar peaks. The river cuts through them, forming a lengthy gorge. Elhovo\u2019s average temperatures fluctuate dramatically. When humidity is factored in, temperatures seem chilly throughout the majority of the year, with a low probability of precipitation for the most of the year. The region is not as temperate as others \u2013 it is in the 35th percentile for nice weather among tourist destinations globally. The weeks with the best weather are shown above. If you want to visit Elhovo during the hottest months, the hottest months are July, August, and subsequently June. Monthly temperature averages are listed below. The hottest time of year is often mid August, when highs average approximately 86.1\u00b0F (30.1\u00b0C) with nighttime temperatures seldom falling below 51.8\u00b0F (11\u00b0C).<\/p>

Spring (March through May)<\/h3>

Due to the combination of humidity and temperatures, this season seems somewhat chilly. High temperatures vary from 70.6\u00b0F (21.4\u00b0C) to 38.1\u00b0F (3.4\u00b0C), with the latter months seeing higher temperatures. Rain is rather frequent, with between five and eight days of heavy precipitation each month. Spring is the second busiest season for tourism, making it an ideal time for visitors searching for activities.<\/p>

Summer (June through August)<\/h3>

The months of the middle year feature pleasant temperatures with moderate highs. These months get modest precipitation, averaging 1 to 5 days each month. June \u2013 August is Elhovo\u2019s biggest tourist season, therefore hotels and other accommodations may be more expensive than normal.<\/p>

Fall (September through November)<\/h3>

Daily high temperatures in the fall range between 74.5\u00b0F (23.6\u00b0C) and 39.7\u00b0F (4.3\u00b0C), which will feel cool due to the humidity and wind. It rains or snows frequently: between one and seven days per month. Owing to the fact that tourism is rather quiet during these months due to the weather, hotels may be more affordable.<\/p>

Elhovo\u2019s temperature is definitely too chilly this time of year to be pleasant for tourists from warmer climates. In 1958, the town\u2019s core business district saw the construction of the Ethnographic and Archeological Museum. It houses one of Bulgaria\u2019s most intriguing and unique ethnographic exhibitions. The museum\u2019s collection includes over 22,000 objects and over 8,000 original papers and photographs.<\/p>

The Dolna Topchia reserve has an area of 467.47 hectares next to the town of Elhovo\u2019s park zone. It is readily accessible by a short walk from Elhovo\u2019s town to the park area. It stretches up to 350 kilometers to the Turkish border. Tundzha river provides ideal conditions for sports-recreational tourism. The area\u2019s natural beauty and the river valley between the Derventski and Sakar hills have been designated as natural landmarks. The river produces a magnificent canyon \u2013 Darkaia \u2013 between the settlements of Lesovo and Radovets. It encompasses an area of 19 thousand hectares. It is protected by legislation due to its uncommon 149 bird species, eight amphibian species, twenty-one reptile species, and other rare and protected plant and animal species.<\/p>

Thracian Suns is a collection of mystic Thracian rock circles situated 4 kilometers from Melnitsa hamlet. They number in excess of 200 and are spread out across a 245-meter height amid the picturesque environment of the Derventski hills. \u201eMochukovi kamani\u201c and \u201eMircholovi kamani\u201c are the names of these terrains. The unique circles are associated with an old religion of the God Sun, which is why they are referred to as Thracian Suns by locals. The tourist path \u201eDrunchi dupka\u201c passes through these rocks. It is a themed path that features two sets of these circles and the region\u2019s stunning scenery. All of these attractions transport tourists to an old and mysterious world.<\/p>

The earliest graves in Thrace (dolmens). Thracian dolmens are one of the most significant archeological discoveries in the Elhovo region of ancient Thracia. They are discovered in the hamlet of Golyam Dervent, close to the Republic of Turkey\u2019s border. Dolmens are the earliest tombs in Thrace. They have a rock construction constructed entirely of natural stones. They were used by the Thracians to bury important members of the tribal elite. In Western Europe and the Caucasus, similar megalithic constructions have been preserved. They are exclusively found on the Balkan Peninsula in the Eastern Rhodopes, Sakar, and Strandja. The majority of dolmens are single chambered; just a few are two chambered. Both styles may include or exclude an entrance corridor (dromos). In 2007, an investigation was conducted on the largest of the two dolmens near the town of Golyam Dervent. It comprises of two cameras and a dromos (entrance) and is dated between the ninth and eighth centuries BC.
