It covers an area of 17.53 km2 and accounts for 1.3 percent of the capital&#8217;s overall area and 8.8 percent of the city&#8217;s actual size. Serdica&#8217;s population was 52,918 people in 2006.<\/p><p>The district has six kindergartens, thirteen schools, and six chitalishta. II and V City Hospitals; the Institute of Transport Medicine; and two polyclinics make up the healthcare infrastructure.
