In addition to the restoration homes, several windmills were also constructed in Nessebar throughout the nineteenth century. The power of the strong winds that blow practically year-round across the little attractive peninsula was harnessed extremely intelligently by the local residents. Currently, three of these windmills have been maintained; one is situated in the center of the isthmus, another on the north shore of the peninsula, and the third at the start of the new part of the city.<\/p>
Some of them are constructed from stone and are cylindrical in form. They are covered with a conical roof made of wood. Others have a stone bottom floor in the form of a cylinder, above which is a rectangle or square timber chamber. The roof has two pitches.
