Many Bulgarian families were compelled to flee the nation under the Communist government due to political disputes. As a result, this is the situation for many Bulgarians who reside all over the globe. Kambanite is a symbol for all Bulgarian children residing abroad.
Lyudmila Zhivkova came up with the concept for the park with the bells. She was the daughter of Todor Zhivkov, Bulgaria’s previous Communist leader. Lyudmila Zhivkova was a well-known arts patron who built the monument with the help of UNESCO and the “Banner of Peace” organization. Todor Zhivkov’s daughter was a contentious character. This was because she was interested in esoteric Eastern religion and spirituality. She was in charge of education, culture, and science as chairperson of the Government’s Committee for Culture from June 1975. She was recognized as a champion of Bulgarian creative arts and introduced Bulgaria to global culture.
