More than 90 years ago the Armenian community in Sofia lost its old church, built as early as the XVII century.
For years Sofia Armenians have been raising funds and seeking support for the construction of a new temple, and this idea has become a cause of the community.
At the end of 2006, under the project of architect Agop Karakasian, the construction of the first Armenian cathedral “St. Mary” (“Surp Asvadzadzyn” began building in Bulgaria).
Today, more than a decade later, the church was built to its foundations, and for its completion the church board initiated a donation campaign.
