The most recent figures from 2018 show that 1,593 people live in Ischgl overall. With a population density of about 15 persons per square kilometer, this makes this one of the tiniest towns in Tyrol.<\/p>

From 1975, Ischgl’s population grew by 22.8%; from 2000, by 8.9%. This is mostly related to the growth of the ski resort and the tourism business, which draws numerous guests and seasonal laborers to the town.<\/p>

Covering 103.34 square kilometers, 85.7% of which is mountainous and 14.3% is forested, ischgl Perched 1,377 meters above sea level, the village is bordered by the Silvretta Alps. Ischgl’s population density, 15 people per square kilometer, is far lower than Tyrol’s average of 105 people per square kilometer.<\/p>

With 50.1% of the population male and 49.9% female, Ischgl has almost perfect gender balance. This parallels Tyrol’s average of 50.4% male and 49.6% female.<\/p>

With 69.2%, the percentage of adults (aged 20\u201364) in Ischgl exceeds the average of 63.9% throughout Tyrol. This reflects the great need for labor in the travel industry, which employs many middle-aged and young people from Ischgl and surrounding areas.<\/p>

With 97.5% of the population speaking German as their first tongue, Ischgl is mostly German-speaking town. There is also a tiny minority of speakers of other languages including English, Turkish, Croatian, Serbian, and Turkish in the town.<\/p>

With 91.7% of the population affiliated to the Roman Catholic Church, the town boasts a majority of Roman Catholics. There is also a tiny percentage of people in the town following other religions including Protestantism, Orthodox Christianity, and Islam.<\/p>

Rich in cultural legacy, the town celebrates its history and identity with several celebrations of customs and events. Among the most well-known events are the Top of the Mountain Concerts, which feature international stars performing at the ski resort; the Ischgl Ironbike, a mountain bike race drawing thousands of participants and onlookers; and the Ischgl Snow Sculpture Contest, which highlights local and international artists.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

With 90% of Ischgl’s economic output and 80% of its workforce coming from the tourist sector, it is the main industry there. With about 200 hotels, guesthouses, and flats, the town can house up to 25,000 visitors daily. Along with more than 100 restaurants, taverns, and clubs providing a range of cuisines and entertainment value, the town also boasts<\/p>

With 238 km of slopes, 45 lifts and a snow park, the town’s ski resort is among the most well-known and esteemed in the Alps. Mostly from Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, the resort draws around 1.2 million people annually.<\/p>

With so many events and attractions including hiking, biking, fishing, golfing, and paragliding, the town also boasts a vibrant summer tourism business.<\/p>

Comprising 10% of the town’s economic output and 20% of its employment, the other sectors in Ischgl include trade, forestry, and agriculture. About one hundred farms in the town generate dairy goods, meat, and crops. Along with marketplaces and stores offering regional and local goods, the town features<\/p>

Ischgl boasts a higher employment rate than Tyrol’s average of 75.8%; it is 83.6%. Ischgl boasts a 2.5% unemployment rate, which is below Tyrol’s average of 4.7%.<\/p>

Employment in the town shows great seasonal fluctuations; more jobs are accessible in the winter and summer than in the spring and fall seasons.
