Mayrhofen’s population has gradually increased since the 1970s, mainly due to migration and the expansion of tourism. The peak population growth rate in the 1980s was 6.4%; it then declined somewhat to 4.9% in the 1990s. The population growth rate stabilized in the 2000s at around 1.6% and is expected to remain constant in the future.
