scenery from the rich \u00d6tztal valley to high mountain watersheds including glaciers spanning 146km\u00b2. S\u00f6lden also boasts forests covering 321km\u00b2, pastures, and peaks. The municipality only has about one square kilometer of accessible development land. After World War I, S\u00f6lden bought more territory by means of border demarcation, so expanding almost 120km\u00b2.
