Bad V\u00f6slau has 12,424 inhabitants as of January 2022.Ever since 1951, the population has grown.In 2020, 83.4% of the population was Austrian; 2.4% of the population hailed from the previous EU member states (those that existed before 2004); and the remaining 4.8% from the recently established EU member states.6.3% of the population, excluding Slovenia and Croatia, came from Turkey or the former Yugoslavia, and 3.1% from other countries.Roman Catholics were about 60.1% of the population in 2001; Lutherans (9.9%), Orthodox (3.9%), Mohammedans (8%), and nondenominationals (15.3%) followed. The other biggest ethnic groups during the period were Turks (6.1%), Serbs (4%), Croats (2.2%), and Hungarians (1.1%), after Germans (83%).<\/p>

Bad V\u00f6slau is the thirteenth biggest municipality in Lower Austria with 11,325 residents overall, according to the most recent census figures.Three places and cadastral communities make up the population: Gainfarn and Gro\u00dfau villages, and the city of Bad V\u00f6slau.With 6,173 inhabitants, the city of Bad V\u00f6slau has the highest population share; Gainfarn follows with 3,414 and Gro\u00dfau with 1,538.<\/p>

Bad V\u00f6slau’s population rose by 3.5% between 2000 and 2015 and by 7.3% between 1975 and 2015. With 6.9% and 3.3% respectively, the population growth rate is little higher than the Lower Austrian average. Positive net migration\u2014more people moving in than out\u2014and natural growth\u2014more births than deaths\u2014are the primary causes of population rise.<\/p>

Bad V\u00f6slau has a population density of 289 persons per km given its 39.2 km area. It is more than the 87 persons per km average density of Lower Austria. The 2011 census shows that while 11.5% of the population is foreign national, the bulk of people are citizens of Austria (88.5%). Germany (2.1%), Serbia (1.6%), Turkey (1.4%), Romania (1.2%) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (0.9%) are the most often mentioned countries of origin for foreign nationals.<\/p>

German, which is the official language of Austria and the mother tongue of 93.4% of the population, is the most often spoken language in Bad V\u00f6slau. Additionally spoken by the locals include Serbian (2.1%), Turkish (1.8%), Croatian (1.2%), English (0.9%), and Romanian (0.8%).<\/p>

Roman Catholicism is the most common religion in Bad V\u00f6slau; it is the official religion of Austria and practiced by 69.5% of the population. The inhabitants also follow Buddhism (0.4%), Protestantism (2.6%), Orthodox Christianity (4.6%), and Islam (5.3%).
