At the 2011 census, Flachau was home to 470 businesses, of which 100 were in agriculture and forestry, 37 were in production, and 333 were in service. Firm numbers increased by 19% from 2001, with the production sector seeing the greatest growth (61%). 1,250 people were employed, of whom 82 were in agriculture and forestry, 200 in production, and 968 in services. From 2001, the employment rate decreased by 5%; the agricultural and forestry sectors had the largest decline (18%). 56 agricultural enterprises operated as primary businesses, 31 as part-time firms, 2 as partnerships, and 11 as legal entities out of the 100 in 2010. 2,096 hectares in all comprised agricultural land, of which 402 ha were arable land and 1,694 hectares were grassland. An agricultural firm typically spanned 21 hectares, which was somewhat larger than the 19 hectare state average. Agribusiness produced mostly milk, meat, grains, and potatoes. Given Flachau having 3,100 hectares of forest area, forestry was also a significant source of revenue for several farmers.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Production employed 119 people, manufacturing employed 73, mining employed 5 people, energy supply employed 2 and water supply and waste disposal employed 1 person. Building wooden constructions, Flachauer Holzbau GmbH, and extracting gravel and sand, Flachauer Schotterwerk GmbH, were the two most well-known businesses in this sector. At 968 jobs spread across 333 companies, the service industry was the biggest and most varied in Flachau’s economy. The following industries were the largest employers in this industry: trade (244), social and public services (99), lodging and catering (330). At 77% of all overnight stays in the St. Johann im Pongau area in 2019, tourism dominated the service industry. Flachau had over ten thousand guest beds spread throughout hotels, guesthouses, flats, and vacation rentals. Overnight stays rose to 1.3 million in 2019 from 950,000 in 2011 and then to 980,000 in the COVID-19 year. In July and August, about 125,000 overnight stays were recorded; in January and February, almost 300,000. The Flachau summer world, which provides hiking, biking, rafting, and ziplining among other things, and the Flachau ski resort, which is a member of the Ski Amad\u00e9 network, were the primary draws for visitors.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
