Nestled at the base of the magnificent Kitzsteinhorn mountain, which towers over 3000 meters above sea level, Ski Resort Kaprun is a little town with great character. The community boasts a rich past going back to the Celtic era, when it was a mining colony. With its guaranteed snow, varied slopes, and breathtaking surroundings, today’s modern and cosy ski resort draws guests from all around the globe.<\/p>

Being the only glacier ski area in the Salzburg area, the Kitzsteinhorn is the major draw of Ski Resort Kaprun. On its easily to difficult snow-covered slopes, it provides year-round skiing. Not for the timid, the well-known Black Mamba, a steep and narrow slope with a 63% gradient, resides on the Kitzsteinhorn as well. To honor their success, skiers who conquer the Black Mamba will receive a free sticker and a temporary tattoos.<\/p>

The Kitzsteinhorn is a marvel and beauty site as well as a skier’s dream come true. On the other side of the valley, Ski Resort Kaprun owns the Schmittenh\u00f6he, another ski area. From beginners to specialists, this family-friendly mountain provides slopes for all ages and ability. Among the longest funslopes in the world, Schmittenh\u00f6he is particularly well-known for Funslope XXL, which has waves, tunnels, bridges, and challenges. Starting at more over 1000 meters and sharply descending four kilometers, the Schmittenh\u00f6he also boasts a black slope known as Trass.<\/p>

Apart from skiing, the Schmittenh\u00f6he provides space for various winter sports including cross-country skiing, snowshoe walking, and winter yoga. Kaprun is a charming village in the Pinzgau region of Salzburg, Austria, that offers a variety of skiing opportunities for all levels of skiers. Kaprun is best known for its access to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier, which provides snow-sure, high-altitude skiing from October to July. Kaprun also has its own family-friendly ski area, the Maiskogel, which features gentle slopes and cosy wooden huts. In addition, Kaprun is connected to the neighbouring resort of Zell am See, which boasts the Schmittenh\u00f6he ski area with stunning views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. With the Ski Alpin multi-day ski pass, skiers can enjoy 347 km of pistes in Kaprun, Zell am See, and Saalbach-Hinterglemm, making it the largest interconnected ski area in Austria.<\/p>

One of the most unique features of skiing in Kaprun is the 3K K-onnection cable car, which links the village centre of Kaprun to the Maiskogel mountain and continues on to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. This cable car allows skiers to access the glacier ski area without having to take a bus or drive a car, and also offers spectacular views of the valley and the peaks. The Kitzsteinhorn glacier itself is another unique feature of Kaprun skiing, as it offers year-round skiing on wide and varied slopes, as well as excellent freeriding and modern funparks. The glacier also has the highest cable car pylon in the world at 113 metres, and a panoramic platform at 3,029 metres above sea level, where skiers can admire the breathtaking scenery of the Hohe Tauern National Park<\/p>

The Kitzsteinhorn ski resort includes two gondolas that take skiers to the top of the slopes and between them.The sitting gondola can transport eight persons, while the standing gondola can transport 24 skiers and all of their equipment.The majority of the slopes have an anchor lift, and because the slopes are so large, it is never too crowded, and everyone is free to discover their own way while skiing.<\/p>

The majority of the trails are medium to easy in difficulty.There are lots of routes for novices, and for those who enjoy extreme winter activities, the so-called black trails are planned, which are badly maintained and entail skiing on dangerous tracks.<\/p>
