Close to the border with Burgenland, Hartberg is an eastern town in Styria. The territory is 21.53 square kilometers and rises 359 meters above sea level. Hartberg consists in four legal towns. These are Ring, Safenau, Hartberg, Habersdorf. A branch of the Lafnitz River, the Hartberger Bach forms the core of the city.<\/p>

Hartberg had 6, 650 residents according to the 2018 census. Of those, 3,541 (53.1%), were women and 3,122 (46.9%) were men. Every square kilometer housed 309.1 persons overall. There were 41.4 years old men and 45.8 years old women among the average 43.7 year old population. Just 6.1% of the population came from other nations; most of them (93.9%) were Austrian nationals. German (1.5%), Croatian (1.2%), Hungarian (0.8%), or Romanian (0.6%) was most often occurring among them.<\/p>

Hartberg had 7,072 residents in the 1970s, and the population has been gradually declining since. The main causes of the declining population include low birth rate, negative migration balance, and longer living times among people. Subtracting deaths from births, 2018’s natural population increase was -0.2%. The net migration rate\u2014that is, the difference between immigrants and those leaving the nation\u2014was -0.4%. Men might expect to live an average of 80.8 years in 2018; women 84.7 years following birth.<\/p>

Roman Catholics make up the bulk of Hartberg residents. Of the people identifying as Roman Catholic in 2018, 76.6% With 5.4% of the population, it ranks second most significant faith group. Of the population, 1.4% belonged to other religions; 16.6% did not identify any religion or state what one they followed.<\/p>

Most of Hartberg’s employees, 64.1% of which are in the service industry, live and work in the sector. Just 7.4% of the employees worked in the farm sector; 28.5% in the industry sector. Hartberg’s jobless rate in 2018 was 5.9%, somewhat below the national rate of 6.1%. Working individuals earned 2,162 euros on average monthly in 2018. This was less than the average across Austria, which was 2,445 euros, but more than the 2,057 euros Styria’s average.<\/p>

Hartberg’s residents are intelligent; 88.9% of them have completed at least the legal minimum level of education. While 71.1% had only attended elementary or secondary education, 17.8% of the population had attended college, university, or vocational school. Just 0.2% of Hartberg residents lacked reading or writing ability in 2018. Less than the average in Styria (0.4% of people) and Austria (0.6% of people).<\/p>

Hartberg’s residents hail from many different backgrounds. 18.2% of the population have migrated there from somewhere else in 2018. In this instance, either at least one parent was born elsewhere. The most often mentioned countries were Germany (3.3%), Croatia (2.7%), Hungary (1.8%), and Romania (1.3% of the population). Those who had migrated around came from. Of those who had migrated from another country, 87.4% spoke German at home; Croatian (4.8%), Hungarian (3.2%), and Romanian (2.2%) followed.<\/p>
