Dam\u00fcls-Mellau ski area is located in the Austrian region of Vorarlberg. Its extensive range of slopes, lifts, and snowparks, together with its excellent snow safety record, are well known. The Walser people created it in the fourteenth century, hence its history and culture are equally rich. Nestled in the Bregenzerwald, Dam\u00fcls-Mellau is bounded by the Laternsertal, the Biosphere Reserve Gro\u00dfes Walsertal, the Bregenz Forest, and the other Vorarlberg districts. The main entry points of the ski region are in the villages of Mellau and Dam\u00fcls.<\/p>

Mellau hamlet sits at 700 meters above sea level, while Ragazer Blanken mountain station is situated in the ski area at 2,050 meters. 2,095-meter-tall Dam\u00fclser Mittagsspitze is the tallest peak in the area and a popular hiking spot.<\/p>

In Dam\u00fcls-Mellau there are 109 kilometers of skiable terrain, including 21.2 kilometers of freeride routes, 27.6 kilometers of easy pistes (blue), 50.5 kilometers of medium pistes (red), and 9.7 kilometers of difficult pistes (black). There are also 29 cable cars, two gondolas, fifteen chairlifts and 29 practice lifts. Because of its snowmaking equipment and an average of more than 9 meters of fresh snowfall annually, the ski area is assured snow from December to April.<\/p>

Among the biggest snowparks in western Austria, Dam\u00fcls-Mellau boasts 85,000 m2 of area and 2,000 m of freestyle slopes. Ragaz Pro Line, Kidspark, UGA-park, uga-all-MTN-line, Mainpark, and other interconnected snowparks make up it. Forty freeride components of the course include a halfpipe, waverides, jumps, turns, and boxes.<\/p>

Dam\u00fcls-Mellau offers two 11-kilometer cross-country routes at elevations of 1,500 and 1,700 meters. Around five kilometers long is the sunny Stofel path in Oberdam\u00fcls, and six kilometers long is the Unterdam\u00fcls track. Two times a week, Dam\u00fcls-Mellau lights up a 2.5-kilometer natural toboggan course for tobogganing.<\/p>

The Walser emigrated to Dam\u00fcls-Mellau in the fourteenth century from the Swiss canton of Wallis. With them they carried their own customs, language, and ceremonies. Dam\u00fcls was independent up until 1806, when it became a part of the Montfort House.<\/p>

The rich cultural legacy of Dam\u00fcls-Mellau is reflected in its folklore, architecture, and art. A historic landmark in Dam\u00fcls, the Church of St. Nikolaus has paintings from the fourteenth century. The Vorarlberger FIS Skimuseum Dam\u00fcls presents the history of skiing in the Vorarlberg area together with rare and vintage Alpine skis and ski jump items. The region nevertheless keeps up its mountain transhumance, accent, and traditional folk clothing.<\/p>

In 2010 the two ski slopes of Dam\u00fcls and Mellau merged to form the biggest ski area in the Bregenz Forest. It is among Vorarlberg’s biggest ski areas as well.Dam\u00fcls is a proudly proclaimed as the world’s snowiest village.<\/p>

Children, novices, and expert skiers may all find a wide range of skiing amenities in Dam\u00fcls.Dam\u00fcls has 29 lifts and 105 kilometers of ski runs altogether, as does the neighboring Mellau ski resort. Dam\u00fcls has an amazing 64 kilometers of private ski routes out of them.<\/p>

1,430 meters above sea level lies Dam\u00fcls. Total area of the region is 20.92 km2. It shares boundaries with the Laternsertal, the Biosphere Reserve Gro\u00dfes Walsertal, the Bregenz Forest, and Bludenz, Feldkirch, and Dornbirn, three other Vorarlberg districts. Most well-known mountain peak in the region is the 2,095-meter Dam\u00fclser Mittagsspitze.<\/p>

The westernmost state of Austria, Vorarlberg, contains the Bregenzerwald area where Dam\u00fcls-Mellau is situated. Lake Constance borders the Bregenzerwald area to the north; the Rhine Valley borders it to the west; the Arlberg borders it to the south; and the Allg\u00e4u Alps, to the east.<\/p>

Closest big cities to Dam\u00fcls-Mellau are Feldkirch, Dornbirn, and Bregenz. These cities can be located along the shores of Lake Constance and in the Rhine Valley. A humid continental climate with moderate, rainy summers and cold, snowy winters characterizes Dam\u00fcls-Mellau, a European resort well-known for its significant snowfall. Every year the area gets an average of thirty feet of snow. The winter months are November through April, with February and March seeing the most snowfall.<\/p>

To suit a range of winter activities, the resort has a large network of ski slopes, 31 ski lifts, and 4 snow parks. Within the ski area, the most practical way to go about is the cable car that links Dam\u00fcls-Mellau. The 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. cable car schedule is followed every fifteen minutes.
