Villa Primavesi

The Villa Primavesi (also known as the Villa Skywa-Primavesi) at Gloriettegasse 14-16 in Vienna – Hietzing is one of the most well-known structures created by Austrian architect Josef Hoffmann.

The emblematic structure was built between 1913 and 1915 for Robert Primavesi, an Olmütz-born manufacturer, big landowner, and Reichsrat member, and his considerably younger companion Josefine Skywa. After 1945, it was utilized as a trade union training facility, and it was occasionally mentioned as the Federal President’s official home. The Austrian Federation of Trade Unions eventually sold the property in 2005 to aluminum entrepreneur Peter König, who had it renovated as a listed building and added an underground parking park for his vintage automobile collection.Previously, the item was intended to be used by the Bösendorfer piano manufacturer. Residents’ complaints against a planned extension, however, thwarted this project.

Despite a makeover in 1956, Hoffmann’s art nouveau garden has retained its beauty. It is one of Austria’s most important garden architecture monuments, and it is mentioned in the Monument Protection Act ( No. 51 in the appendix to 1 Paragraph 12 DMSG ).
