The parish church of Steyr-Resthof is located in the Upper Austrian municipality of Steyr. The Saint Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic parish church is located in the Deanery of Steyr, which is part of the Diocese of Linz.
In 1977, the parish of Gleink bought land, and in 1979, the Diocese of Linz approved plans for a pastoral care facility at Resthof.During the initial phase of construction in 1982/1983, a pastoral care center was built and consecrated in December 1983 by Bishop Maximilian Aichern.Since the parish was merged in 1991, there have been continuing discussions about constructing a new church.Discussions with architect Treml culminated in a four-person architectural competition in 1994, which was won by architects Gabriele Riepl and Peter Riepl. The draft was accepted in 1996 after amendments, and the groundbreaking ceremony was performed in March 2000, followed by the laying of the foundation stone on May 7, 2000.On May 20, 2001, Bishop Maximilian Aichern dedicated the church. The church was taken up by the Order of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate.
Sculptural components include a variety of cuboids.Glass surfaces offer for views and insights by breaking up the framework. The rectangular hall space is angularly closed and extends eastward to a pool of water and southward to a meditation garden. The daily chapel culminates with a glass block as a light sculpture in the building’s south-eastern corner.
A brick-red monolithic altar is held on a slate-covered altar pedestal elevated by a step. The basic ambo is made of metal. The birch wood pews are arranged in a U configuration facing the altar.
At the far end of the entry room lies the baptismal font.
