Schoenbornpark

Schönbornpark is a 10,000-square-meter park on Florianigasse and Langen Gasse in Vienna’s 8th district.

The complex may be traced back to the Palais Schönborn.Friedrich Karl von Schönborn purchased a garden area and had a mansion erected by Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt at the beginning of the 18th century. The mansion and grounds were rented out after Schönborn was named bishop of Würzburg in 1729.

The property, which had meanwhile shrunk owing to additional construction, was purchased by the City of Vienna in 1862 and opened to the public as Schönbornpark.During WWII, a bunker was constructed here, and the walkway construction was also altered extensively.

Schönbornpark now has play spaces, benches, and a dog zone.

Schönbornpark’s architectural monuments, including the wall, fountain, and toilet pavilion, have been listed since June 15, 2006.In 645, a small-leaved lime (Tilia platyphyllos ) was designated as a Viennese natural monument. There is also a bust of Edmund Eysler in the park, as well as an oak planted in 1934 and dedicated to Anton Wildgans.
