Burgstein Chapel

The Burgstein Chapel is a Roman Catholic Marian chapel in Burgstein, Tyrol’s Längenfeld municipality.

On the east side of the valley, the chapel is placed on a terrace above the valley.It was completed in 1670.The two-bay structure has a polygonal end and a steeply gabled wooden roof with a ridge turret and a belfry.The inside has an early Baroque lunette barrel with floral stucco bands.

An altar attributed to the carpenter Kassian Götsch, with a miraculous image of Mariahilf with a depiction of the donor on the back, dated 1682, in an excerpt from St. Antony and the Sorrowful Mary, a painted antependium (4th quarter of the 18th century), and a haloed Mary with the two Johns, are among the late baroque furnishings.Two baroque canvas paintings of Saints Peter and Margareta, as well as two votive paintings of Saints George and Michael, dated 1677 and 1678 and labeled Georg Helrigl (Stifter), are also on display.
