On the southern slopes of the Principality of Andorra<\/strong>, in the peaceful town of Auviny\u00e0<\/strong>, Casa Auviny\u00e0 Winery<\/strong> is a shining example of the harmonic fusion of history, modernism, and respect for the surroundings. Nestled in the difficult terrain next to the La Rabassa forest<\/strong>, the winery, which is part of the parish of Sant Juli\u00e0 de L\u00f2ria<\/strong>, is remarkably elevated\u20141,200 meters. The story of Casa Auviny\u00e0<\/strong> started in 2005 when the Tor family<\/strong> set out to produce outstanding wines<\/strong> reflecting the unique character of the Andorran Pyrenees<\/strong>. The basis for what would become an outstanding winery<\/strong> was established by the synthesis of Jordi Tor<\/strong>‘s deep-rooted connection with the land and the forward-looking aspirations of his children, Cristina<\/strong> and Esteve<\/strong>, together with daughter-in-law Elena Clemente<\/strong>. Starting with a painstakingly created research plan developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture<\/strong>, the initiative focused on the cultivation of vines<\/strong> and the creation of outstanding red and white wines<\/strong> on the mountainous terrain of Andorra<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Casa Auviny\u00e0<\/strong>‘s two hectares of vineyards<\/strong> are carefully laid over five separate plots. Based on grape variety<\/strong>, the vineyards are set on steep west-facing hills with gradients ranging from 40% to 60%. Rich in shale and slate, the soil’s ideal conditions for growing strong grape varieties are created by the severe mountain climate<\/strong>. A key component is the vineyard’s biodiversity<\/strong> since it fosters a symbiotic interaction between the vines and their surroundings. Selected for their ability to thrive in these demanding conditions, the cultivated varieties are Pinot Gris<\/strong>, Pinot Noir<\/strong>, Syrah<\/strong>, Viognier<\/strong>, and Albari\u00f1o<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Casa Auviny\u00e0<\/strong> set out from the very start to produce wines<\/strong> that not only meet but exceed world standards of quality<\/strong>. To find grape varieties that would flourish in the unique soil and climate conditions found at a 1,200-meter elevation, extensive research was undertaken. The results of this study shaped the winery’s winemaking process<\/strong> by guiding low-intervention policies and allowing the grapes to naturally evolve from vine to bottle. This approach has produced wines<\/strong> reflecting the core of their Andorran roots<\/strong>, both real and creative.<\/p>\n

With 5,000 vines now grown in Casa Auviny\u00e0<\/strong>, yearly output of roughly 3,000 bottles is obtained. Among its three red wines<\/strong> and a distinctive white wine<\/strong> are some noteworthy creations. Red wines<\/strong> available include Fora Pista Pinot Noir 100%<\/strong>, Evoluci\u00f3 Pinot 100%<\/strong>, and Evoluci\u00f3 Syrah 100%<\/strong>. By contrast, the white wine<\/strong>, Imagine<\/strong>, offers a polished mix of Viognier<\/strong> (50%), Pinot Gris<\/strong> (45%), and Albari\u00f1o<\/strong> (5%). In prestigious events including the International Wine Challenge<\/strong> in London, BACCHUS<\/strong> in Madrid, Mondial des Pinots<\/strong> in Switzerland, Mondial des Vins Extr\u00eames<\/strong> in Italy, and Syrah du Monde<\/strong> in France, they have won more than a dozen prestigious medals.
