It is Tirana&#8217;s earliest known artefact, and it ornamented the villa&#8217;s basement. A church was erected on this location in the fifth and sixth century. In 1972, the remnants of this Palaeo-Christian Basilica were discovered. In 1973, the mosaic was designated as a cultural monument. Today, the Byzantine church exhibits some of the old mosaics uncovered at the site, which include a variety of geometrical designs as well as fowl and fish. On January 23, 2010, the facility reopened to the public.
